Francesco Acquista studied Piano, Composition and Choral music at Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music. He also studied Organ and Gregorian chant at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (PIMS), Sacred music at Ersta-Sköndal högskola and Orchestral conducting at the Royal College of Music (KMH) of Stockholm. Particularly devoted in renaissance and contemporary repertoire, he conducts first performances of music by emerging authors from all the world. He conducted the world premiere of “Solitude” by Andreas Nilsson and the first scandinavian performances of the oratorio “La Passione” by Domenico Bartolucci, the cantata “Le sette parole di Gesù sulla croce” by Giovanni Geraci and the chamber opera “Bip” by Teresa Fantasia. He currently conducts the Norrlands Nations Kammarkör in Uppsala and is organist and conductor of the orchestra and the choirs in St. Tomas church in Stockholm.
